Hi my name is Jamie Hewitt a lot of people know me as Ms. Hewitt! I have worked for Bay District Schools from 2009 to 2024.  Seven of those years I taught pre-k. I have taught at Southport, Hiland Park  and Lynn Haven Elementary School. I lived in New Mexico for two years where I was a kindergarten educational assistant at Bella Vista Arts Academy. This year I moved back to Florida and I worked at Central High School. I love teaching it's my passion and I believe it's why I was put on this earth.  I started substituting when I was fresh out of high school at only 18 years old I was thinking I would do this while I was in college and I fell in love with teaching. My mom is a pre-k teacher also and I like to think that had a big influence in me wanting to be a teacher, along with the amazing pre-k teacher I had when I was four years old. Another huge influence for me is my students and their need to be loved and to have a teacher who cares and that will respect them in their own individual ways. Each child is unique and I love watching them grow over the year and seeing them chase their dreams, It's truly something beautiful to witness. 

I am now graduating with my BS in Early Childhood Studies,  I am more knowledgeable and a better teacher for my students since starting this journey three years ago. I am planning to teach but  I am undecided on what grade I would like to teach.  My students, their families and my coworkers have encouraged me to further my education. It truly has been the best decision of my life.
